This is what I call the “longarm” setting from my Sew & Quilt in Comfort Book. The photo is from Shelly Jones, who uses her custom table to support her John Flynn quilting frame, and graciously let me use her photo in the book. Shelly sits in the chair you see to the right, with the quilting frame supported on both sides of the sewing machine. This positioning of the machine can be done with or without a quilting frame – and many machine quilters prefer this position rather than have to struggle with the small throat of the sewing machine when machine quilting a large quilt. If you click on the photo you can see it in full screen mode, which has a much better perspective.
